Hey everyone! In today’s post, we’ll take the hood we finished last week (in this post) and the collar we worked on yesterday, and join them together as one.

First, unzip your hood zipper.
Now take the constructed hood, and poke it through the zipper opening. The right side of the hood should be facing you. If you can see the inside of your hood (or your lined hood) you’ve got it backwards!
Pin along the lower raw edge of the hood and collar, matching the notches. I like to start in the centre, and work outwards towards.
Now, baste along this lower edge.
Now we’ll be able to attach the hood-collar unit to the jacket as one piece!
And that’s it for the day!
This also means that View B Sew-alongers will be joining us for the next step! If you’re making View B, you will be sewing one collar piece to the jacket, where the View A Sew-alongers will be attaching this whole hood-and-collar constructed piece.
Here’s one View-B-er that is excited to get sewing again. :)
All done! √úber quick step, which was good as I decided I didn’t like my planned zip so have swapped it for a new one that matches the front :)
I’ve had to pin the hoody-collar to the jacket too, just so I could finally pull those threads!!! But I’ll wait until tomorrow before I take it to my sewing machine…
Hi Tasia,
Would you mind posting a picture of the backside of the hood? I haven’t done yesterday’s step yet and am having a hard time visualizing the back – I’m wondering if the raw part of the zipper is showing on the lining side? Thank you!
Meagan,
Jumping in here, as constructed so far, the zip will show on the lining side of the collar. I’m guessing (as I don’t own the pattern!) that there is another collar piece to be added later in the process (either lining or main fabric) that will cover this outer collar and the hood.

Yay! I can start sewing again tomorrow!
I just couldn’t help myself and I kept going. All I have to do is hem my jacket. Tasia, this pattern is an absolute gem. A truly wonderful pattern! Thank you.
My hood does not fit into the zip opening as it’s slightly too big. I notice on the pictures that there’s some puckering of the hood when it fits through the zip opening. Is this ok?
Just to add to my previous post, I’m sewing a size 10 and after measuring the width of the hood vs the zip opening on the pattern itself, it’s clear it won’t fit neatly (without bunching) through the opening.
When do we add the third collar piece? Right now, the collar is unfinished on the outside edges, I’m a little confused as the directions aren’t clear about this third piece. It says to construct the lining in the same manner as the jacket, but we already used the collar cut in the lining for this step.
Having a little hood problem, my hood is too big for the whole and the zip is too small! Back to the drawing board for me!
