Self-Stitched September: Day Two

Day Two of Self-Stitched September and the sun is shining. What better reason to put on a pretty red dress and heels? (Note: I reposted this one due to technical problems, you might see it show up twice!)

What I’m Wearing:

  • Self-Stitched Dress: Vogue 9668 in red wool crepe with bemberg lining, also known as the Las Margaritas Dress
  • Belt: Value Village, thrifted.
  • Shoes: Kimchi Blue from Urban Outfitters, purchased in April/May 2010.

Q. What’s the best part of today’s outfit?

A. The colour of this dress! People notice a girl in a red dress. Wear red if you want to stand out! I was at Starbucks early in the morning, the kind of early where everyone else is in either corporate workwear, or sweats and ponytails. And then there’s me in a red dress with a swishy skirt. You can’t help but feel pretty and feminine!

Q. Where did you go today in your Self-Stitched outfit?

A. To Starbucks for a little early morning coffee and bagel with Mr. Sewaholic, then to work.

Q. What’s your favourite colour?

A. Turquoise! I love all shades from teal to aquamarine. I’m even partial to brighter blues and royals. (Red comes in a close second.)

Q. Do you plan out your outfits or fly by the seat of your pants?

A. I live on the edge. No planning out my weekly wardrobe for me! It’s not because I’m wild and crazy, more so because the weather has such an impact on what I pick to wear. Also, it totally depends on what I’m doing that day, whether I have meetings, and if I have to go straight from work to another event or dinner. Plus I’m secretly hoping to whip up more basics to work into my wardrobe.

Q. Any plans for the weekend?

A. Hitting up Fabricana’s long weekend sale for some half price notions! And sewing, of course. Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Aw thanks! I was messing around with my blog settings and for some reason, the original version of this post disappeared! I tried everything and couldn’t make it come back again. It was there, but it wouldn’t show up on the main page, you could only get to it by clicking the September archive.
So, my apologies if you commented on the post the first time, I had to copy the post and re-post it, and lost the original group of comments. Ahh, technology! So amazing and yet so frustrating sometimes.

That is a very beautiful dress. I have red on the head at the moment and am looking for the perfect pattern to make a red cord skirt.
