Patterns, Printers and Pre-Sales

Wow! What an amazing weekend it’s been. First off, you guys are wonderful! Pre-sales went better than I ever imagined. I had a sale four minutes after sending out the mailing list email! That’s some seriously fast typing. After that, sales came in from all over the world, literally! Japan, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Sweden – it’s surprising and exciting how far things spread through the internet. So thank you all, so much!

Missed the pre-sale? Don’t worry, pre-sales continue until Wednesday. You’ll receive a link to the pre-sale page when you sign up to the mailing list here.

One thing that came up over the weekend – some people had problems getting to the pre-sale page. Was that you? If there’s anyone out there that wanted to buy but had technical difficulties, please let me know and I’ll send you a new email. Sorry for the bugs and thanks for your understanding. I’ve learned how to make it work properly next time, live and learn!

And if you’re on the mailing list you already know that the pattern’s out for print! So exciting! I went to my first press check and watched as the pattern covers printed out, right in front of me. I even got a tour of the printing facility! Very, very cool.

They even let me take photos when I was there! Here you can see the pattern cover coming out the end of the printing machine:

I’ll share a few more pictures from my tour of the printing facility, as well as post a follow-up to the post about recycled paper. I’ve found solutions to eco-friendly printing that I’m really pleased with, look for an update coming this week!

As if life around here isn’t exciting enough, I’m all set to host my first Sew-Along as well! It’s official, the starting date will be January 10th. I’m really looking forward to it! It will be a great chance to ‘meet’ new people, get inspired, sew something new, and beat the January blues.

I’ll put together a preliminary Sew-Along timeline soon. Don’t worry if January doesn’t work for you, the posts will be here for when you’re ready. And I know some of you can’t wait that long to get started (hello, Julie!) so if you start sewing on your own and need a little help, you know where to find me!

Now that is exciting! I love seeing the behind the scenes footage of all the hardwork that goes into presenting a beautiful product. Oh gosh, can’t wait for my pattern to get here and to participate in the sewalong. Yes, that will most definitely beat the January blues.

Thanks everyone! I’m beyond excited right now, it’s so fun watching it all come together!

@Bellieshaker: The pattern size range is 0-16, here’s a link to the size chart so you can check the measurements:

@Patty The Snug Bug: Hi Patty! I’ve sent over the email to you, let me know if you still have troubles!

@Jasonda: Yes! It’s a great printer, they’re very eco-friendly, and local too! Best of all worlds.

@Fay V: Hi Fay, I’ve resent the link to you by email, let me know if you’re still stuck! Technology is a great thing except when it doesn’t behave :)

@Sue: Sue, I’m so sorry! I’ll send you a new email right now.

I’d really like to know how/where you get them printed. Is it at a regular copy shop? Or are there specialty places for this sort of thing?

  13. Tilly November 22, 2010 at 12:19 pm #

ooh Tasia, how exciting!!! Visiting the printers must have been an amazing feeling, knowing they are making your very own product. I really admire you for starting this business.

It is SO cold in London at the moment that I’m saving the blouse for the spring. Sounds like you’ve had lots of orders already, which is great!

I’m about to start a countdown! You know I REALLY can’t wait to get my hand on the pattern!

  15. Melissa November 22, 2010 at 1:39 pm #

Hi Tasia, I only received the confirmation email as well. Can you please send through the link for the pattern sale? Thanks, Melissa

I just preordered my pattern – Exciting!
Also, you’re starting the sewalong on my birthday – happy birthday to me! :D

Trying to catch up on my blog reading – how exciting that the pattern is already good to go for pre-sale! I also just checked the size chart and OMG, you really truly are making it for the pear-shaped woman. Tasia!! I almost cried when I saw that. I cannot tell you how nice it was to basically see my measurements in the same column and not have to bounce diagonally down the chart. Girl, you are so on my gold star list right now. :) I hope it takes off huge for you – I’m ordering my pattern later this week!

  18. Kristen November 23, 2010 at 12:35 am #

I’ve ordered mine too! This is so exciting! I cannot wait for the sew along, and am so inspired watching your progress as a business-woman.

Hi Tasia. Good for you for starting your own line. I just pre-ordered mine. I love the internet and paypal. I too hope to join your sew along (although I’m a bit crap and tend to get side tracked by other things – especially in summer – so we’ll see how that goes).

  21. tia November 23, 2010 at 7:08 am #

    Tasia,

I didn’t get a link for buying the pattern. Just a confirmation email. Please

    send again.

    Thanks.

Eeeee! So, so exciting to see it printing–I bet that was really neat to go and see it actually “live” like that.;) I’m really hoping that perhaps I can join in the sew-along, but if not I shall enjoy reading all your posts any way (and saving the ideas for later!).

I also can’t wait to read more about the eco-friendly printing solutions you’ve come across…
