Inspiration for the sewaholic

Happy 4 month blog-o-versary to me today! Hard to believe I’ve only been doing this for four months. Not only has it been fun and inspiring, but I’ve met tons of cool people!

Speaking of cool people, with the launch of my new site, a few more of you started following me on Google-Friend-Connect. I suppose many of you reading in a reader didn’t know the widget was there…

So I was discussing blogs and widgets with my guy over breakfast, and ended up telling him about some of your follower goals and/or giveaways. And he offered up a little incentive for me…when I get to 200 followers, I get a charm for my charm bracelet. Shiny new jewelry!

Help me out, ladies and become a follower!

If there’s a 200 follower prize, then there should be a 100 follower prize too. I’ll supply the 100 follower prize, to be announced…

While we’re on the subject, does anyone else have a followers’ goal? I remember Molly‘s was a dinner date at 100. Share yours in the comments! Let’s help each other out.

People have asked me recently where I get my inspiration from. Well,  the truth is, I’m inspired by so many of you! Which is why I decided to post a round-up of “inspiration for the sewaholic.” (Plus I have nothing new to share on the sewing front… too much work, not enough free time.)

Do you guys like this idea? Should it be a weekly (or somewhat regular) feature?

Here’s what I’ve been inspired by this week:
  • Elastic waist skirts from Alli at One Pearl Button. Check out her awesome tutorial for a quick and easy summer project! Who wouldn’t like a little instant gratification in the form of a pretty, floaty skirt?
  • New Vintage Lady‘s adventures in dressform-making! Or as she puts it, pimping her dressform. So cool. Take a look if you’ve ever dreamed of making your own dressform! Spoiler alert – Onda’s so cool, she even has tattoos.
  • Ali’s summer essentials sew-along. I really want to join but I have a feeling this summer is going to be too busy to stay on track. But I’ll be following along!
  • This may be last week’s news, but it’s still cool… Colette Patterns has refreshed their pattern photos with soft summer shades. Photos were already gorgeous before, but now they’re even prettier (if that’s possible) in a fresh palette! Check them out if you haven’t yet! I’m looking at you, Macaron
This could become a short novel every week as there are so many inspiring things going on in the world! Which is an amazing thing, really.
Happy sewing everyone – hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

I don’t have any goals per say, but would like to see my followers go to the double digits. I have been writing for 2 years now. Best of luck! Can’t wait to see your new charm.

How fun! I never really thought about it before, although I just made 100 followers today and was really excited about it. I’m already a follower, so I hope you get to that charm bracelet mark soon!

Good luck with your goal! I just bought the Macaron pattern, so it’s been on my radar too.

I love seeing what inspires other people, so I always like to see links like these!

New Jewelery? I gotta help a girl out :D I was following in reader but joined up on the google-friend-connect.

I have a few Colette Patterns that are on my summer sewing list. I’m terribly indecisive when it comes to what kinds of fabrics to use, and the gallery on the blog is great for inspiration!

OH i’m still aiming for one follower… my blog is only 3 or so days old so its a baby. I love reading yours daily! Good luck with the charm :-D

I have goal which I have set for my site but I have based them on my Google Analytics statistics as apposed to followers. I am aiming for a certain number of people reading each week, and a set percentage of those to come from direct traffic.

I personally like this way better as I find it easier to track. With so many ways for people to follow your updates; Bloglovin, Reader, Friend Connect, Twitter, Facebook etc you may already have 100 ‘followers’ just across a number of sources!

I don’t have a followers goal – my main sewing goal at present is to get my arm out of plaster and sew my own version of Lady Grey – your statement coat. You’ve been inspiring me!

Ah, thanks for the shout-out, Tasia. And I totally feel you on the Colette Patterns. I never thought about the Chantilly but now I HAVE TO HAVE ONE. And just like the photo. Ha. Maybe I’m just not that creative and couldn’t see the possibility in it until the restyle. And I’ve been eyeing the Macaron for months.

Also, I’ve tagged you in a game o’ questions, if you’re willing to play. I’d love to read your answers! :)

Happy blogiversary! I’m about to hit my six-month anniversary and am going to do a big giveaway :) I can’t believe you’ve only been blogging for four months…I’m so glad we’re friends!

You guys are awesome :) thanks for all the follows!
@Ali: Done, and I left you a comment to come check out my answers!
@Brumby: Good tips on goal setting, I’m going for the followers thing as that’s where the ‘reward’ was offered! But you do make some good points, I may be closer than I think!
And I’ll totally show pictures of my new charm when I get it, of course! @catherine: LOVE the gallery, you’re right! It’s great to see everyone else’s creations.
@Ali: and @Trisha: I just bought the Macaron pattern too! I think it’s going to be adorable all sewn up, and might even be one of those ‘make-in-multiples’ dresses.

Thanks for the link! I love your brown shirtdress- I want to try to make one this summer. Good luck on the jewelry!!

I don’t know if it counts, but I have started following you on Bloglines (that’s the only way I can keep up with sewing blogs!) Love your outfits–they’re so well-made, and look great on you!

  14. Tasia June 16, 2010 at 9:13 am #

@Molly: No problem, in fact, thank YOU! Your 100-follower dinner goal helped inspire my guy to suggest a 200-follower goal (it started at 100 but then he wanted to make it a little harder for me)
@Becky: Thanks for the compliments and for stopping by! Just checked out your site, you’ve made some really pretty jewelry :)

I really like the idea of a weekly inspiration post – good luck on the 200 follower goal!

I am new to following blogs (never experienced Google reader ;-) ), and decided to read some of your early ones. I had to laugh (in a good way!) when I read this one – congratulations on the success of your wonderful blog since the “aiming for 200” mark- as I read this you have 4,667! A mark of a wonderful blog, that I am very much enjoying!

Haha, thanks Theresia! I look back on some of the early posts and get a good laugh too, my photography and writing has improved a lot since I first figured out blogging. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy reading!
