$100 Giveaway from Hart’s Fabric!

**UPDATE** Entries are closed. Thanks everyone for entering and the winner will be announced tomorrow!

I have an exciting announcement today, perfect for first thing Monday morning! Hart’s Fabric has generously offered a $100 gift certificate for their online store to one lucky Sewaholic reader! Isn’t this great timing? We’ve just been talking about where to buy fabric online, how close our nearest fabric stores are, and now here is a fabric giveaway for you guys to win!

To enter, take a look at the Hart’s Fabric website and tell us which fabrics get you excited for Spring sewing projects. I love when the seasons change and the fabric stock shifts from winter to spring. Cotton voiles, bright colours and pretty prints replace the dark and heavy fabrics – it’s always so refreshing!

Here’s what gets me excited for Spring sewing! Click any of the images to find out more about each fabric.

Remember this one, from the original post on buying fabric online? It’s still there! I love this silk-cotton polka dot lawn. Pretty silks and silk-cottons make perfect work blouses. The Pendrell Blouse is an easy pattern with no closures to worry about, which means fast sewing!

Or how about this silk knit print? Kelly green and white is so classic.

This would make a gorgeous summer dress! Real Liberty of London Tana Lawn. I still haven’t cut the Liberty fabric I received as a present last year but the fabric feels amazing! Excellent for barbeques, summer picnics and outdoor weddings. (With all this talk of warm weather sewing, is is starting to feel like spring yet?)

How about this great striped knit for a Renfrew top? Hart’s Fabric has a great selection of knit fabrics to choose from. There are plenty of striped knits in other colours too!

I’m drawn to citrus greens and bright blues, and fabrics with white backgrounds for spring. They feel so summery and fresh! A nice change from the dark colours and heavy textures of fall and winter fabrics.

What about you? Which fabrics are your favourites? Leave a comment below! Or if you like, leave a comment on the Hart’s Fabric Facebook page.

The giveaway ends on Thursday, March 1st and the winner will be chosen randomly from the comments below. Anyone in the world can enter and win, this giveaway is open to all countries.

Good luck, everyone! And thanks to Hart’s Fabric for offering such a generous giveaway prize!

**UPDATE**

Contest is now closed. Thanks everyone for entering and the winner will be announced tomorrow!

I’m new to the sewing blogs and somewhat of a beginner sewer. It’s great to know about all the on-line fabric resources since there are few fashion fabric options where I live. Anyway – I love cotton and I think cotton sateen is quickly becoming a favorite. I love the silk cotton polka lawn you show above and I’m seriously considering it for a lovely summer dress.

  2. K80 February 29, 2012 at 7:58 am #

I would love to try one of the Eco or Striped knits on the Renfrew top!

Most of my favorite fabric is sold out, go figure.
Tho the Coat Lining Fabric Red Dot on Creamy White would look good for my cape coat.

Thank you for hosting the giveaway.

This is so fun. I love “window” shopping for fun fabrics online! This pink dotted fabric is so cute, I would love to make anything with it! It’s one of those fabrics I would buy without having a plan for it, just because it’s so lovely. :)

I had never seen that website before, but I love how their fabrics are categorized. I’m a beginner, so I have trouble judging if something is appropriate for a dress. I’m going to check out their site in more detail later.

Here is the fabric that I would love to have:

I recently bought a scarf that looks just like this!

Me! Me! Me! Pick me. I have returned to sewing after thirty years and I am really enjoying myself. The fabrics I like are Duo Tone Floral Silk red and white so summery. The retro yellow bean chiffon, I can see as a dress. The Hawaiian rayon challis blue I would make a shirt. There are so many great choices to choose from. I am happy to find out about your site. Thanks.

  14. Lisa February 29, 2012 at 10:50 am #

I seriously shouldn’t of checked that site . I love so many things on there. I especially love the High end fashion section. The Pink dot drapey woven Matka is simply gorgeous !!

  15. Isobel February 29, 2012 at 10:51 am #

My daughter is studying Japanese at the School of
Oriental and African studies, University of London. She is a great dressmaker and last weekend was part of the Hyper Japanese Fashion Event at Earl’s Court. It would be lovely to make her a surprise dress for summer from the Ivory floral double gauze from the Nanu Iro collection of Japanese fabrics, when she comes home for Easter.

  16. Katie February 29, 2012 at 11:08 am #

Oh, I love Hart’s Fabric! I’ve ordered from them twice and both times have been very pleased with their service. My favorites on their site are the Liberty fabrics and also the double gauzes. $100 would be a great excuse to splurge!

  17. beth February 29, 2012 at 11:31 am #

Although it’s unfortunately temporarily out of stock the Ikat Challis Green would make a gorgeous spring dress.

  18. Ella February 29, 2012 at 11:45 am #

  19. Máire February 29, 2012 at 12:16 pm #

I found your blog a while ago when I decided I was going to learn how to sew. Not only has it unearthed a world of craft I didn’t know existed but now another store I could spend way too much time browsing. I have already! Oh the choices! There are some lovely organic cotton fabrics. I particularly like the colours and patterns of these:

  21. Sue February 29, 2012 at 12:17 pm #

If I won this I wouldn’t know what to choose! I checked out the website and was like a kid in a candy shop; so much variety and exciting colours & textures. I love the voiles & cottons for the summer. Love the flowery fabrics but they just don’t suit me at all but there were some lovely swiss dot cottons (loved the purple) and plain cotton voils (can’t beat white for summer). All kinds of linen mixes, some I’ve never heard of, which would be great for jacket & pants. I noticed a Linen/cotton raincoat in light grey which would be great for the Minori jacket which I intend to make as soon as I have finished other projects!

  22. karen mackay February 29, 2012 at 1:02 pm #

One daughter is getting married this year and a friend and I are making her dress whilst the younger one has just said she wants lots of long stretch-knit t-shirt tops (I so want that renfrew pattern). What more can I say!

  23. Lisa February 29, 2012 at 1:09 pm #

I just received the pendrell blouse pattern so I’m already picturing it in one of the silk fabrics!

  24. Mike February 29, 2012 at 1:27 pm #

Some of the Knit Modal Fabric would make some great tees when the weather gets warmer!

  25. silvia February 29, 2012 at 1:30 pm #

Ooh, it would be tough to decide but it would be a toss up between Liberty and Japanese double gauze. I’d probably drive to the shop (it’s not all that far really) and spend all my cash by not being able to decide.

  26. Vivienne February 29, 2012 at 1:52 pm #

I love the Anna Sui black lace with pink flowers!

  27. kristen shields February 29, 2012 at 2:02 pm #

  29. Cathy Byrd February 29, 2012 at 2:24 pm #

Michael Miller Fabric Charcoal Dinky Daisies
This spoke to me. Don’t you just love the name even? Sunday – at Sunday School – in the 4 and 5 years class – I have the most adorable little girl named Mary Alice bring to me a tiny little white flower – only about 1/2 inch total. This little flower matched her dress – which happend to be black with tiny white flowers – and her shoes – also black and white with flowers on the toes – Her face lit up as she gave me the flower – More beautiful than diamonds it was to me! :-)
This fabric would forever – remind me of Mary Alice!
Thank you for the chance to win!
    Cathy Byrd

  30. Katie February 29, 2012 at 2:39 pm #

I fancy some cotton velvet or corduroy – they have some lovely plummy colours, and they have some really pretty tartan wools. I spend all winter craving summer things and now we’re getting into spring and I want wool and corduroy! Though they have some nice silks and voiles, lots of nice blues!

  31. Kase February 29, 2012 at 3:09 pm #

I can’t get enough of polka dots and stripes!! :D

  32. susy February 29, 2012 at 3:12 pm #

This Nani Iro Double Gauze (http://www.hartsfabric.com/nani-iro-fashion-apparel-fabrics-cotton-double-gauze-fabric62034.html) is incredibly beautiful. Really, anything with bright colors in a nice soft fabric that will be worn next to your skin would be exciting.

  34. Carla G February 29, 2012 at 3:35 pm #

What a generous give-away! I’ve had my eye on the Marc Jacobs Wool Silk Herringbone, for some work separates, and the wide aqua strip jersey. I know I’d wear that all summer if I made a t-shirt from my shiny new Renfrew pattern!

  46. Bella March 1, 2012 at 3:53 am #

What a generous offer – they have some lively fabrics!

  47. Lynn Madonich March 1, 2012 at 4:50 am #

I love Hart’s Fabric Store in Santa Cruz, CA because of their wonderful selection of knits galore! They have many colors of Ponte knits, rayon and lycras in yummy colors and gads of jersey knits. It’s sew inspiring! I’m so glad I finally visited the store last spring and summer. Also their online sales are great. I found a great rainproofed linen/cotton fabric and made a trench coat! Happy March!

  48. Megan March 1, 2012 at 5:02 am #

Wow, what an amazing giveaway! I could spend hours browsing that site, picking out things that I love… I’d probably have to go with some of the organic fabric, I have so much trouble finding nice (i.e. not homespun that feels all scratchy and cheap) organic fabric where I live.
Thanks so much for hosting this!!

  49. Corinne March 1, 2012 at 6:59 am #

What a great site and their fabric selections are outstanding. As soon as I saw the Birch Organic Abacus Dots and Stripes, I swooned. What a great look for a Spring/Summer dress!

I love Hartz Fabric! I’m in northern California so I’m close enough to go visit in person once in a while, but mostly I shop with them online. I’m really interested in trying some of their silk-cotton blends – sateen or voile. Of course, there are a few rayon challis prints that have caught my eye as well. Mmmmm, fabric!
